“It’s really, really important to raise your hand, to keep asking the questions when no one else does that for you. At the end of the day, realize you did something great not just for yourself but for your community.”
Sun first became interested in STEM topics thanks to a trip to our very own Science Museum of Minnesota in the third grade. As an undergrad, he’s studied flying dinosaurs, presented at conferences, and met the pressures and challenges that come with being among “the first and few” BIPOC students in STEM.
“Don’t run away from the challenges. Don’t be scared just because there’s nobody else that looks like you. Keep showing up.”
