Researcher Housing

The research station can provide housing for up to 8 researchers at a time in the Log Cabin Dormitory, located on the main research station property. Lodging can be booked for a single nights or for the duration of a research project in the St. Croix Watershed.

The cabin features four bedrooms with bunk beds and individual wardrobes, two bathrooms (one fully accessible), kitchen, living/dining combination area with fireplace, and a screened porch. The cabin is air-conditioned and fully accessible.

Researcher Classifications

  1. SCWRS Research Projects - SCWRS Research Projects are officially sanctioned scientific projects, either sponsored by the SCWRS or approved by the SCWRS research committee. These projects generally involve use of station resources and laboratories in addition to housing. Housing grants may be available for graduate student use of SCWRS housing.

  2. Guest Research Projects - Guest researchers in other fields (art, literature, history etc.) may apply for housing at the SCWRS. These projects will be reviewed by the SCWRS director and research committee on a case-by-case basis; SCWRS projects will have priority in use of station housing.

Housing fees do not include meals.

Linens are available for an extra $5 per night or $20/per week Damage deposit of $50.00/person for stays of more than 2 weeks $25 key deposit required.

  • Less than 2 weeks - $35/day/person (SCWRS Researcher), $45/day/person (Guest Researcher)

  • More than 2 weeks - $175/week/person (SCWRS Researcher), $225/week/person (Guest Researcher)

  • More than 1 month - $550/month/person (SCWRS Researcher), $750/month/person (Guest Researcher)
