ADORNMENT

Arm band, metal band of silver, decorated with parallel lines and a single flower. Small hole on each corner. Bears the stamps, "Montreal" and "CA". CA is the maker's mark of Charles Arnoldi, a silversmith active in Montreal, Canada, between 1784 and 1810. Arnoldi was an associate of Robert Cruikshanks, another well-known silversmith working out of Montreal at the time (see A73:1:363 for a Cruikshanks arm band). Both were major suppliers of trade silver to Canadian fur companies for trade with Native American trappers during the fur trade. EF
