Dive below the surface to explore the world of the magnificent blue whale — the largest animal to have ever lived, bigger than any dinosaur. In Blue Whales, follow two scientific expeditions as they work to understand why these gargantuan creatures are making a comeback after early 20th century whaling nearly drove them to extinction.

In this immersive Omnitheater movie, witness these giants of the sea, learning about their spectacular feeding habits and the surprising role they play in the health of our oceans. Hear how whales communicate — and sing! — with each other, often across hundreds of miles of oceans and at frequencies beyond the range of human hearing, despite being the loudest sustained sound in the animal kingdom. Set against the backdrop of the Seychelles islands and Mexico’s Gulf of California, this large-screen closeup takes you fin-to-fin with how these animals live — and the extremes scientists must endure to study them.

The film is narrated by actor and filmmaker Andy Serkis. Dolphins, sperm whales, sea lions, and orcas make up the supporting cast.
