Robert Doty - Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Museum Infrastructure

The Science Museum of Minnesota welcomed Robert Doty as its chief financial officer in September 2022, bringing with him a depth and breadth of experience in strategic fiscal management, information technology, facilities, and security, as well as an enthusiasm for the museum and a deep appreciation for the role it has played in his family’s life.

“I was drawn to the Science Museum because of its reputation and the work it is doing around equity,” Doty says. “I was touched by its mission, vision, and values, and in particular its statement on equity and inclusion, which guides its work in using STEM as a tool to advocate for justice.”

As CFO, Doty is a key member of the museum’s senior leadership, leading the group that manages the museum’s fiduciary responsibilities and supports its financial health. He also oversees the museum’s Public Safety, Information Technology, and Facilities functions as the leader of the Museum Infrastructure division.

Doty comes to the museum most recently from the Minnesota Department of Revenue, where he served first as assistant commissioner in 2019 and 2020, then as commissioner from 2020 onward. He also served as the executive director of the Minnesota State Lottery and as CFO/COO of Dunwoody College, Minneapolis Public Schools, and Harvest Network of Schools.
