Alison Rempel Brown: Creating Change for an Equitable & Just Society
About Alison
As president and CEO of the Science Museum of Minnesota, Alison’s mission is to build a better institution and a future where everyone is inspired by science.
With insights gained from years of experience, Alison is a powerful speaker on the topics of equity, education, and the role science can play in creating sustained change in the world.
Why now?
"We are ‘swimming in whiteness’ in America. Once we can see it, we can lead to create a more equitable and just society." -Alison Rempel Brown
Four years ago, leaders at the Science Museum of Minnesota learned that staff who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color weren’t comfortable with the museum’s internal culture. So they are working to change it. The journey isn’t over — it never will be. But data from staff engagement surveys shows that the work is making an impact. Through systemic, data-driven practices, museum leaders are implementing tangible practices to ensure continuous growth and improvement.
Alison has shared her expertise with audiences at Mayo Clinic, the University of Minnesota, the Aspen Institute, 3M, Twin Cities Public Television, the National Park Foundation, and more. She welcomes the opportunity to expand the conversation.
