Homotherium serum (Scimitar-Toothed Cat)

Geologic age: about 27,000 years ago, Pleistocene Epoch 

Region in Minnesota: Fillmore County (SE Minnesota)

Fast fact: This large predator was the size of a modern lion and roamed the tundra-like landscape of Minnesota during the last Ice Age. Although it had smaller canines than its cousin the Saber-Toothed Cat, it was a powerful predator with particularly muscular arms and shoulders.
