Carnotaurus

Meet Carnotaurus

  • The name Carnotaurus roughly means “carnivorous bull,” in reference to the prominent horns over its eyes.

  • The arms of Carnotaurus were incredibly short, even shorter compared to its body than in Tyrannosaurus.

  • The skull of Carnotaurus was pretty flexible, making it a bit like a snake, able to flex around its prey and swallow animals whole.

  • Paleontologists found fossil skin impressions alongside Carnotaurus bones, showing that it had a complex pattern of scales over its body.

  • Carnotaurus was rather speedy. How speedy? It was likely able to run up to 35 miles per hour!
