Enjoy a better way to access your Science Museum of Minnesota membership with digital membership cards — a convenient, greener alternative to traditional plastic cards.

Once downloaded to your smartphone, your digital card will automatically update each year when you renew. Plus, digital membership cards provide quick links to our website, contact information, and helpful reminders.

What are digital membership cards?

The Science Museum of Minnesota offers digital membership cards as a benefit to our Members. Your digital card can be downloaded and saved to your smartphone, allowing you to access all of your Member benefits. 

Why is the Science Museum switching to digital cards?

By switching to a digital membership card, you never have to worry about forgetting your card. Plus, going digital is more environmentally friendly: You’ll help save thousands of pounds of paper a year and reduce emissions created by mailing printed cards to you. 

You’ll also help us save on administrative costs, putting more of your membership dollars to work to make science education available for more of our community.

When will I receive my digital card?

New Members: Your membership will be processed in 2-3 business days. You will then receive an email with instructions on how to download and access your new digital membership card.

To visit the museum before you receive your digital membership card, create your account and login to reserve tickets at smm.org/tickets or call us at (651) 221-9444.

Current Members: You will receive an email during the week of April 4 to download your digital card. Please contact us at member@smm.org or (651) 221-9444 if you did not receive an email or if you have questions.

Your digital card will automatically update each year you renew your membership.

How do I download and access my membership card?

We’ve also written iPhone and Android instructions for you below:

iPhone: Open the email from us on your smartphone. Click “Download,” then “Add to Wallet” and “Add.” The card will automatically be saved in your iPhone’s Apple Wallet and can be accessed at any time. If you do not see the email, please check your spam folder.

Android: Download the Google Wallet or Wallet Passes app from Google Play. Then, open the email from us on your smartphone and click “Download.” The card will automatically be saved in your Google Wallet or Wallet Passes app and can be accessed at any time. If you do not see the email, please check your spam folder.

What if I never received an email to download my card?

Please check your email’s spam and promotions folders. If you still cannot find your email, please contact us at member@smm.org or (651) 221-9444 and we will resend your email.

I’d prefer not/am unable to use a digital membership card. What should I do?

We can send you a paper membership card. Please contact us at member@smm.org or (651) 221-9444.

You can still reserve museum tickets by logging in at smm.org/tickets.

I changed my mind; I want a physical membership card.

No problem! Contact us at member@smm.org or (651) 221-9444.

Can I use my digital card to receive reciprocal benefits when I visit other participating museums?

Yes! This card works just like your physical membership card.

Can I use my digital card to receive my Member parking rate in the museum ramp?

Yes! Hold your phone up to the machine at the parking ramp entrance to scan your barcode.

I have other individuals on my membership. How do they access our card?

Simply navigate to the back of the card and use the share icon (box with arrow in top right corner – iPhone users) or “Share Pass” link (Android users) to send the card to the other individuals named on your membership.

How do I update the information on my digital card if it’s incorrect?
