RUG

Navajo wool rug circa 1950 purchased by Dolores Heidenreich in Arizona. Black border with stepped designs on selvages; central white background with double diamond motif in center and separate stepped motifs in four corners; diamonds formed by combinations of stepped triangles arranged in concentric colors: black, gray, red, white, black; stepped motifs in corners are half stepped triangles in black, gray, red. Technique = tapestry. Black tassles in four corners.
