ADZ

Highly stylized adze with a wood handle and a green stone blade. The blade is possibly made of nephrite. The blade is hafted using a leather strand, and is also glued to the handle. The handle is decorated with three typical Maori faces (heart shaped mouth and the tongue sticking out in defiance). The faces have inlaid shell eyes. A woven rope hangs from the end of the piece.
