Choose which science experts you’ll meet

Five breakout sessions will feature people who are passionate about science and how it can be used to make the world a better place.

Hot Times in Ancient Earth

Millions of years ago, high temperatures and wet conditions made it possible for giant animals to roam the Earth. Dive into the science behind massive snakes and other ancient life with Dr. Alex Hastings, Fitzpatrick Chair of Paleontology, and Nicole Dzenowski, Paleontology Lab Manager.

Food on the Move

Food has been constant in humanity’s timeline. Go back to the 12th and 15th centuries with Dr. Ed Fleming, Curator of Anthropology, and Jasmine Koncur, Anthropology Research Assistant, to explore cooking-related findings at pre-European contact sites in the midwest to see how food, foraging, and lifestyle have been influenced by migration and climate.

Collections Up Close

Museum collections have the power to show us how the Earth's biodiversity changes through time. Explore our biology collection with Dr. Catherine Early, Barbara Brown Chair of Ornithology, and Jenny O’Neill-Englund, MS Biology and Collections Volunteer.
