Explore our planet’s biodiversity in a fascinating new way with Exquisite Creatures, created by artist, naturalist, and author Christopher Marley.
Drawing inspiration from the term “biophilia” or “an instinctive sense of kinship with the rest of the living, breathing, world,” Exquisite Creatures shows organisms found in nature in geometric, vibrant shapes.
This three-dimensional exhibit presents reclaimed, preserved animal specimens (meaning that the specimens died of natural causes) arranged in intricate patterns showcasing a full spectrum of color. The seemingly endless variety of colors, textures, and structures create a mosaic of the natural world, including crystals, lizards, beetles, parrots, urchins, ammonites, and many more.
